Global fellow
Ayodele Sogunro is a human rights scholar-practitioner whose research examines the intersection of LGBTIQ+ decriminalisation and democratisation in Global South contexts, with emphasis on international human rights law and postcolonial legal studies. He has served as Senior Postdoctoral Fellow and SOGIESC Project Manager at the Centre for Human Rights (University of Pretoria) and Sexual Rights Lawyer at the Initiative for Strategic Litigation in Africa (ISLA), combining academic scholarship with extensive practical advocacy experience across multiple African jurisdictions. He was selected as a Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellow at the National Endowment for Democracy (2024-2025) and he is currently on the board of The Initiative for Equal Rights, Nigeria.
