Social anthropologist focusing on gender relations and migration patterns in South Asia.
Thematic foci of recent projects include: Girls right to education; displacement; Gender assistance in reconstruction and peacebuilding; Women’s access to justice under plural law; Women and human rights under Islamic law.
Ask’s ethnographic competence is based on longer anthropological field work in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province North West Pakistan, and on several shorter field studies and commissioned evaluations in Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
