Synnøve Økland Jahnsen has been employed at Uni Research Rokkan Centre since 2017 and holds a doctorate in sociology from the University of Bergen from 2014. Previously Jahnsen has worked for the Nordic Institute for Gender (NIKK), Center for Women’s and Gender Research (SKOK) at the University of Bergen, Department of Criminology and Sociology of law (IKRS) at the University of Oslo and the Norwegian Police University College (PHS) in Oslo, where she has been involved in numerous internationally oriented research projects. Jahnsen’s research interests lies at the intersections between social and criminal justice, sociology of law, public administration and international relations and includes studies om prostitution, human trafficking, forced labor, migration, policing, reforms and policy implementation, strategic cooperation and cross-institutional communication.  Jahnsen’s research includes ethnographic research on Norwegian and Australian police forces, and speaks to problems of globalization, crime and security.
