Please join us at Kunsthall 3,14 for a panel conversation about the mechanics of repression in Cuba and Iran. How can social movements and artistic strategies help when facing repression?
In collaboration with BIFF, Kunsthall 3,14, and Cuba Cambia.
The panel draws on the BIFF movies ‘A Long Cuban Night’ and ‘Rehearsals for a Revolution’
The Long Cuban Night (2026), directed by Sergio Fernández Borrás, follows the Movement San Isidro (MSI), a group of Cuban artists, as they protest against the imprisonment of rapper Denis Solís. Using their phones to document what they go through, they document the violence and repression they face by the Cuban government. The movie portrays the hunger strikes, protests, and events that led to the 2021 demonstrations.

Rehearsals for a Revolution (2026) shows director Pegah Ahangarani’s personal stories and home videos, showcasing the conflict and resistance in Iran from 1979 to 2026. Across five chapters, Ahangarani draws on the lives of those close to her to tell a broader collective story of her homeland, Iran.
