The project received funding from the UTFORSK program (Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills). The 4 year project involves an international teaching development collaboration between the University of Sao Paulo (USP School of International Studies), Toronto Metropolitan University (School of Public Policy and Democratic Innovation), the University of Washington (UW Dept of Political Sciences), the University of the Western Cape (School of Government) and our home-grown GlGov program. Our collaboration is motivated by a wish to overcome key stumbling blocs to taking decolonialism seriously in teaching programs on the governance of global challenges: How do we diversify curricula and teaching approaches and learn in a truly global setting? How can we include a diversity of perspectives and lived experiences across race, class, gender and geography in the classroom? How can we use and institutionalize staff and student exchanges, but also joint courses, broader curriculum development and COIL, to expose each other to different views and experiences and learn from each other in a sustained manner? How can we mobilize students to work across campuses in meaningful ways?
