When Sudan’s dictator Omar al-Bashir was deposed in 2019, many young Sudanese believed it to be the start of a new chapter in the country’s history. This remarkable documentary captures the optimism and the intense creative energy that marked this historical moment, when it seemed like Sudan could liberate itself from a past marred by authoritarianism, corruption and conflict between ethnic groups. SUDAN, REMEMBER US documents a deeply tragic story – but also one which reminds us of those priceless moments where everything is possible.
