On Thursday, March 6th, Bergen Global was filled to capacity, buzzing with energy and purpose. People from diverse backgrounds came together to reflect, question, and discuss one of the most persistent challenges of our time: gender inequality in the labor market and the gender pay gap in 2025.

Organized by LawTransform and Minojur Bergen to mark International Women’s Day, the event brought a powerful lineup of voices to the stage such as experts in law, academia, and sport, each offering unique insights into how we can close the gender gap and promote more equitable societies.

Among the standout participants was Elise Margrete Weltzien, representing ELSA Bergen, who shared a compelling youth perspective on the structural barriers young women face and how collective action can ignite change. Her contribution was both thoughtful and energizing, offering a clear call to reimagine leadership and opportunity through a gender-conscious lens.

Joining Elise were:

Tine Eidsvaag: Professor and Researcher with the LaW-BALANCE project at the University of Bergen.

Juliana Acero Morad: International Employment and Social Security Law Consultant and Director of the Labor Law Department and the Labor Observatory at Javeriana University.

Lars Johan Myklebust: Sports Director for the Women’s Team at Brann Football Club.

Together, they created a rich dialogue, connecting policy, culture, and everyday realities.

Photographers John Alstad, Cecilie Grankel, and Sofie Ægidius captured the vibrant atmosphere of the evening, where thoughtful discussion met genuine celebration. But perhaps the most moving part of the event was the global tribute to women who inspire us.

In the lead-up to the event, participants were invited to nominate women who spark admiration. From Senegal to China, Brazil to France, stories of strength, perseverance, and love poured in. Each attendee received one of these stories as a personal welcome, an intimate reminder of how individual acts shape collective progress.
