Ana is a postdoctoral fellow at the Amazonian Institute of Family Agricultures, Federal University of Pará (INEAF/UFPA), in Brazil. Over the past 15 years, her research has focused on territorial conflicts involving Indigenous peoples and other traditional communities in Brazil, looking especially at the dynamics of legal mobilization in these disputes.

She is currently part of a research project supported by the Brazilian Ministry of Indigenous Peoples (MPI) that analyzes the clash between private property claims and Indigenous territorial rights across Brazil, and has been developing work on how the extractive industries engage with the law to dismantle recognition and land rights regimes. She has served as special advisor to the MPI on issues of mining and Indigenous rights (2024-2025) and as legal advisor at Amazon Watch, where she coordinates the programme aimed at strengthening the holistic security of threatened land rights defenders in the Brazilian Amazon (2021-2026).
