In 1996, a Brazilian official and a Swedish TV journalist travelled into a poorly mapped part of the Amazon to make contact with the isolated Korubo people. The footage they brought back was celebrated as a breakthrough. Three decades later, director Nathan Grossman (I Am Greta) takes a critical look at that material and follows the journalist’s return to the Korubo, asking what role the expedition played in the changes that followed, and what role documentary film has played in the colonial project.
