Peter Mascini – Discretion from a Legal Perspective

Questions & Discussion
Peter Mascini is an associate professor at the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Earlier this year, he contributed with a chapter “Discretion from a Legal Perspective” in Discretion and the Quest for Controlled Freedom, edited by Tony Evans and Peter Hupe. He studies the legitimization, implementation and enforcement of legal and policy instruments on a range of domains such as health and safety, crime-fighting, torts, education and the labour market. He is particularly interested in studying the tenability of behavioural assumptions underlying policies and policy theories. In his research, he uses both quantitative and qualitative methods.
