New PhD position

Fully funded PhD position at Centre for Research on Discretion and Paternalism, UiB.

The Centre is looking for a person with high ambitions, strong qualifications in methodologies and a keen interest in comparative research. The candidate must hold a Master’s degree in political science, social policy or economics (other education may be considered when clearly relevant for the project topic).

The duration of the PhD position (100%) is 4 years. The position is connected to the project “Discretion and the Child’s Best Interest in Child Protection”, funded by the European Research Council.

Centre for Research on Discretion and Paternalism addresses core themes in the social sciences by examining the government’s use of power towards its citizens, and the justifications of state interventions into people’s lives. Research at the Centre is comparative – between nations, systems and individuals. The Centre is interdisciplinary, and include researchers across the world.

Centre for Research on Discretion and Paternalism is a collaborator of Lawtransform, involved in the Child Right Unit.
