Postdoc position at Centre of Law and Social Transformation

There is a vacancy for a postdoctoral research fellow position with a focus on political and legal mobilization around sexual and reproductive rights in Africa. Closing date: March 31, 2016

The postdoctoral fellow will be at the Centre on Law & Social Transformation and administratively under the Department of Comparative Politics, University of Bergen. The position is part of an NFR funded research project on “Political determinants of sexual and reproductive health: Criminalisation, health impacts and game changers. The research project uses quantitative as well as qualitative methods to investigate the political strategies and dynamics that lead to politicization, criminalization – or decriminalization – of abortion and same-sex intimacy.

The project also investigates the health implications that follow from these strategies and dynamics. The empirical focus of the project is on ten African countries: Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Sudan, Tunisia, Uganda and Zambia. The candidate will also perform tasks related to the coordination of the research project and the Centre on Law & Social Transformation.
