Originally from Guatemala and France, Ana Braconnier De León holds a Ph.D. in Latin American studies from the Lozano Long Institute for Latin American Studies in the University of Texas at Austin (2021). With a background in comparative political science, her research interests encompass qualitative approaches to judicial politics, Indigenous peoples’ rights to self-determination over land and ancestral territories, and the responses by the political and economic elites in Guatemala. Her scholarship seeks to collaborate with legal advocates to support social justice struggles. Ana has almost 15 years of experience between academia, NGO, and cultural and artistic grassroots organizing.
