Andrea Süssmann is a PhD candidate at the University of Bergen Faculty of Law, working on her thesis “On the Construction and Interpretation of Human Rights on the Basis of Migratory Status: A Legal Perspective on the Bordering Process of (Il)legality through the Prism of the Human Right to Health”. Her primary research interests center around the triangular relationship between the subject of rights, physical presence and legal space in the context of irregular migration, in particular the function and borders of international and regional human rights norms, as well as EU law, in the creation of irregularized migrants’ in/ability to access or partake in the professed ‘universality of human rights’.
