Conrado Hübner Mendes is a Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of São Paulo and a LawTransform Global Fellow. He holds a PhD in Law from the University of Edinburgh (UoE) and a PhD in Political Science from the University of São Paulo (FFLCH). Both his Masters and her PhD theses were awarded as the best in the Political Science department of the University of São Paulo. His book “Constitutional Courts and Deliberative Democracy” (2013) received the  “Victor Nunes Leal” award from the Brazilian Political Science Association.  He has carried out post-doctoral research at CMI, at the University of Oxford (HLA Hart Fellow), at the Max Planck Institute Heidelberg (Visiting Fellow),  at the University Humboldt and the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin (Georg Forster Fellow) and at the University of New York – NYU (Hauser Research Scholar).

His research interests are separation of powers, constitutionality review, constitutional cases, fundamental rights, theories of justice and democracy, and the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court.
