Elena Martínez Barahona is an Assistant Professor of ​​Political Science and Administration at the University of Salamanca. Elena holds a PhD in Political Science from the European University Institute of Florence (Italy), Master in Latin American Studies from the University of Salamanca, and a Law degree and Political Science degree from the same university.

Elena is an academic coordinator for the Master Program in Political Science for Development, FUNGLODE at the University of Salamanca, and Professor of the Master Program in Latin American Studies, Institute of Ibero-America

She is the author of several publications on the role of the Judiciary in the political systems of Latin America, on citizen security and democracy in the region, and on impunity and violence in Central America.
